Yala Beach is a coastal stretch lying within the broader Yala region of Sri Lanka's south-eastern corner, close to the town of Tissamaharama. As with many beaches in this relatively remote part of the island, it sees considerably fewer visitors than the more developed resorts further west along the southern coast, lending it a quieter, more unspoilt character. Visitors tend to come here to walk along the shore, take in the scenery, and enjoy the sense of seclusion. The beach sits near the boundary of the famous national park that shares its name, meaning those spending time in the area often combine a coastal visit with wildlife safaris. Tissamaharama serves as the main base for organising accommodation, supplies, and onward travel.
